Program Note:
The piece is one of the choral pieces from the Symphony “The Saviour”, which was mainly composed in 2014. The choral pieces of the symphony can be sung as independent pieces. The texts were extracted from the 1961 Liber Usualis, following the liturgical instructions, and from the Vulgata.
The world premiere of “Christus Factus Est” took place on October 16, 2018 at the University of Toronto.
“Christus Factus Est” is the Gradual of the Maundy Thursday in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.

TEXT:
Chrístus fáctus est pro nóbis obédiens usque ad mórtem, mortem autem crúcis
Propter quod et Déus exaltávit íllum, et dédit ílli nómen, quod est super ómne nómen.

TRANSLATION:
Christ became obedient for us unto death, even to the death of the cross.
For which cause God also exalted Him and hath given Him a Name which is above all names.
